Our Kinetix recruiters are what helps our company be the best firm out there, and with that responsibility you have to be a kick a$$ teammate to be a part of our team! This month we are featuring one of our kick a$$ female leaders who is a Coach at Kinetix!
Who might this fearless leader be? Selina Byers, the woman who, “Leads by example and believes you don’t ask anyone to do anything you wouldn’t do yourself.”
We had the chance to sit down with her and get an inside — backstage pass — into her mind and career.
How long have you worked at Kinetix?
“I have been with Kinetix since December 21, 2014!”
How did you find Kinetix?
“Networking — I applied to an ad through Peak Resource Group, our VP of Talent Solutions, Jacki Neal’s, recruiting agency.”
What previous experiences have helped you be the recruiter/coach you are today?
“I have combined experience in agency and contingency/direct hire recruiting. I also have over 10 years of experience in healthcare recruiting.”
What do you specialize in?
“I specialize in Healthcare and non-healthcare leadership positions.”
What is something new you have learned since being at Kinetix?
“I have learned about Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO). Although I have many years’ experience in staffing and direct hire placement, RPO is a segment that is new to me and has been fun to learn because it allows you to partner with the client and be part of their team.”
What two tips can you share with other Recruiters?
- “Plan your day, don’t let your day plan you. It is important to build relationships with your hiring managers and candidates. Set up a weekly or bi-weekly calendar invites to follow up with them. Set deadlines for yourself.”
- “If you make a mistake, acknowledge it. Don’t dwell on it. Learn from it and move on. Take action when you need to and do so promptly. Everything we do, mistake or not, is an opportunity to learn.”
What do you think is a main driver of your success?
“I embrace change and try to adapt to it. In recruiting you need to have perseverance – I don’t give up. I try to keep a positive attitude and am always striving to be the best that I can be. I try to always see the “glass half full”.”
Any final thoughts you want to share?
“Reward the big wins and recognize the smaller successes.”
We think Selina is a kick a$$ teammate who delivers more than expected. We hope you can take her wisdom and carry it over into your own practices of finding talent and being a great teammate!
Kinetix is the perfect place where recruiters can come to learn, grow and be surrounded by a supportive team.
